Alicyn Shea's 100 GW Quilt...

  January 07, 2008

click to enlarge Look what is nearly complete.  It is Alicyn Shea's 100 GW Quilt.  All it is waiting for is the dragonfly stitching.  That is scheduled to be done in February.  Isn't it beautiful and huge.  This is the quilt that has the fabrics from friends and family also the swaps from our Oct DTC group.  We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to her quilts.  Her Ladybug X-ing quilt is done, too.  That one has all the quilt squares from all the swaps I have done through out the year.  Thank you so much to everyone.  Here are the pictures.  They are at the bottom of the page.  Please check them out.  We would like to personally thank everyone who sent squares and also Marie Clair and Jo Ann James (MIL) for doing both quilts.  This quilt has been put together with lots and lots of love.  We can't say enough about them.  Thank you so much.  Also to my mom, Judie Aguirre for being very helpful and supportive in helping with doing the swaps and buying fabric and also cutting squares.  Hugs to everyone.

Huge Storm in California...

  January 06, 2008

We have been having a HUGE storm here in California.  It started Thursday and is still going.  We have had some breaks today.  We were expected to have snow today, but it didn't get cold enough.  LOTS and LOTS of people are without power.  We were one of the lucky ones.  Dean's parents have been with out power since Friday morning and they aren't expecting to have it back on until Thursday.  Friday's storm was unreal to say the least.  We had hurricane winds here in Northern California.  It was so bad that we lost part of our back yard fence, our side fence and 1 tree.  The tree was coming out at the roots and Dean and his dad had to cut it down, so it wouldn't fall into our neighbors yard.  Husband did get up early and go to work, but it was so bad, plus with the tree happening, he ended up coming home late morning.  I didn't take still pictures, but I did take some video with our new camera.  We are trying to see if we can posted it on our website.  There was lots of damage all over Northern California.  There was also blizzard like conditions going up the mountain toward Lake Tahoe.  They did close HWY 80 due to the conditions.  On Saturday, we did venture out early to get our new car serviced and we ended up in some bad torrential down pours.  We haven't had the bad winds again, thank gosh.  We are still expected to have storms off and on until Thursday.  LOTS and LOTS of rain here.

Guess What We Got???

  January 03, 2008

click to enlarge Tonight we went to Dean's parents for dinner.  They just got back from their vacation to Washington and Oregon.  Well, we also had our Christmas with them tonight.  They got us our new Panasonic VDR-D210 DVD Video Camera.  LOVE IT!!!  We have a camera for when we go to China to get Alicyn Shea.  It is the coolest little camera.  It has lots of cool features.  We are still trying to figure out how to use it.  We will post a video as soon as we have something worth watching.  Here is a picture of what our new camera looks like.  Thank you so much Ed and Jo Ann.  It is perfect.  We really wanted a camera for when we go to China.  You already new that.  We love you guys very much.

Open letter to my Dear Wife...

Another year is gone away.  It’s still just you and me going strong after almost 12 years of bliss. ( Our dating years were pre-bliss) I would like to say this has been an eventful year, but I think we both know it’s just been one of those ‘passing the time’ kind of years. On the negative we lost one of our Grandmothers.  Elleen James lived a VERY full life and traveled the world and managed to make friends just about everywhere she went, but never failed to stand her ground when she needed to.  She lived modestly but, in her own words, did anything ‘She damn-well pleased”.  We will truly miss her.

A great thing that happened this year was us making it through the CCAA Review Room.  We were so worried that we wouldn’t make it through. We were afraid of being judged by people that don’t know us.  Obviously our true character and sparkling personalities came across through our carefully crafted paperwork, or we were just dull enough to not get noticed.  Either way, we made it through!

We’ve invested a lot of time in waiting for the arrival of our little one Alicyn-Shea and we’re in it for the duration.  We’ve been in standby mode these last 14-odd months being a little afraid to go out and enjoy ourselves.  I think this is something we should work to remedy this coming year, not as a New Years resolution specifically, but as a commitment to each other.  To quote one of my favorite songwriters John Lennon: “Life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans”.  To put it succinctly, our plans are set, let’s go out and live life.

In closing let me just say that I could not imagine my life with anyone else.  You are my everything, and I love you.

Dean

Happy New Years Eve!!

  December 31, 2007

click to enlarge We would love to wish everyone a safe and happy New Years Eve!!  Last year at this time, Husband and I were at Disneyland with some friends.  We will NEVER go there again for New Years, but they did have the most spectacular fireworks.  We arrived at Disneyland with friends and came home not friends.  We learned a big lesson, never go to your favorite place with friends.  We will never go back to Disneyland with anyone but us and Alicyn Shea.  Happy New Year Everyone.  Here's to speedy referrals.  OK...a girl can wish, right?
