Disneyland Trip
Disneyland Highlights...
February 18, 2009
Our trip to Disneyland was GREAT!! The weather wasn't to bad. We did have rain on one day, Friday, but other then that it was really nice. Here is a day by day update.
Thursday 2/12...We got up around 2 am and left the house around 4 am. It was raining when we left. We had a scare with the Grapevine at first, but it ended up being open. There was snow. We made it to Hollywood around 11 am. Our first stop was Pinks Famous Hot Dogs. I have always wanted to go there. We really weren't that impressed. Hot dog was OK. I was hoping to see a movie star, but we didn't see anyone. After lunch we went to Grauman's Chinese Theater to check out the foot and hand prints. Then we walked down a couple of blocks and check out the stars. They were set up for the Oscars in front of the Kodak Theater. Then we drove to Disneyland. We got there around 2:30 and checked into the Disneyland Hotel. Our first room was not so good. Our view was of the parking lot. I went and complained since we spent $1600 for stay. They did end up upgrading us with no charge to a pool view room. Way better and a lot bigger room. After settling in, we took my mom to the house that everyone else was staying at. This house was unreal. It was about a 3 blocks from the back side of the park. It was called the Disney House. This house looked like an ordinary house from the outside, but when you got in, it was so cool. It was all Disney! I guess the Disney Imaginiers disigned the house. It had 4 themed bedrooms: the Winnie the Pooh room; the Mickey Mouse room, the Princess room, and the Jungle room. There were 2 bathrooms, a huge playroom, a living room, kitchen and dinning nook. There was also a pool. Words can't describe it. We took some pictures. We left my mom off and Dean and I went back to the park. It was know around 5 pm. We did get to the park and was able to be there for a couple of hours. The park closed early. We went and dinner then we went back to our room. My sister-in-law, 2 nieces and nephew didn't arrive until around 10 pm. We meet up with them on Friday.
Friday 2/13/09....We started the morning early. We were going to do the Mickey's Toontown early entrance, but we didn't make it. We were able to get in a few rides before the parks got really packed, then we met up with my mom, dad, MaryBeth(SIL), Gracie, Mardy and Devin. We did a few things together before it started to rain. Everyone went back to the house except Devin. He wanted to stay with us. We went had some lunch and did some shopping all while it was raining. We did make it to California Adventure and did a Bug's Life. The rain got really bad. We ended up going back and all 3 of us were drinched. We didn't have any parkas to keep us dry. Devin went back to the house and we went back to our room. MaryBeth picked him up. We ended up having to go shopping for shoes for Dean. His shoes were soaked. We spent the evening at the Block Shopping center. We had dinner there. Then we had an early night. Dean and I exchanged Valentine's gifts that night. I got a white gold heart necklace with diamonds. It is really pretty.
Saturday 2/14/09...Valentine's day! We got up early to do the early morning enterance into the park. We met up with Mardy and Devin. They went with us. We did a few rides and then we met up with my mom and dad. Devin spent most of the time with us until I wanted to wait in the hour line to see Tinker Bell and Friends. Then he went with my parents. Dean and I waited in line. This was one of the highlights of our trip. I got to meet Iridessa, Tinker Bell and Silver Mist. It was really great. We spent most of the day at Disneyland and then we went to California Adventure. We had dinner at the house with everyone to celebrate Gracie. Gracie was the one who invited all of us. She was able to ride the unicycle. This was her task she had to do. She did and what she wanted to do was to come to California and go to Disneyland and see all of us. Well, we had dinner and she got a gift from her parents. They got her a camera. It was a nice evening. We did go back that night to the park. We didn't stay that long. We both were really tired.
Sunday 2/15/09...MaryBeth's Birthday! We had a nice day. Great weather. We did a bit of shopping. We also spent the day at California Adventure. We did the new Toy Story Mania ride. Great ride. We had a nice day. We did have dinner with the family at the house for MaryBeth's birthday. It was really nice. We went back to the park and stayed until about 11:30 pm. It was a great evening.
Monday 2/16/09...our day home. They weather was unreal. It was really bad. There were lots of accidents and the rain was really bad. It ended up that the Grapevine was closed. We had to detour through Mojave to Bakersfield and cut over to I-5. It was about 2 hrs out of our way. We did leave around 9 am. We made it home in record time. The weather was awful all the way. We did have some some over the Tehachapi. Other then that, it was just rain and a lot of it! We did see an accident right in front of us. It was really scary. They were just fine. I miss Disneyland, but it feels good to be home. We missed the pooches.
